By presenting a vision of what a “future-proof” and inspiring bookstore could look like, an exciting and successful collaboration between Standaard Boekhandel and PUUR was created.

Starting point of the design was more inspiration for customers and more user-friendliness for employees and created major improvements in the new store concept.
All parts of the store were examined in detail one by one, which resulted in a new layout principle for the store. The end result is a store concept with the contemporary look of a bookstore, because books still play the main role in the store.

In Ghent and Kortrijk, 2 flagship stores of Standaard Boekhandel have been completely renovated based on an innovative store concept designed by PUUR.
The new store concept was created by a thorough analysis of the existing stores by PUUR.
In constant dialogue, PUUR developed a new store concept together with Standaard Boekhandel. By having workshops with the store manager and by involving Standaard Boekhandel in the design process, an improved store concept was created.
