De Brug, University of Amsterdam

The University of Amsterdam has a building on Roeterseiland Campus called “de Brug”. This building’s panoramic views over the city of Amsterdam are simply breathtaking. PUUR has conceived it as a meeting place for the students.

Info

The double-height space is a key meeting point for all students on campus. The concept for the flexible side of the space is “a square”. In this zone, students can eat and drink and meet (briefly).

The multifunctionality of this side of the space is facilitated by the use of stackable chairs and movable stands. The square can be filled with moveable furniture or can be emptied completely to organise an event, much like a real square in the city.
